Arts Connection Drummers
The Neighborhood Academy exists to provide a holistic college-prep education for students in grades 8-12 who come from low income families. As part of that holistic approach, we are dedicated to providing comprehensive art programming.
The Artistic Vision of The Neighborhood Academy is one that seeks to develop and implement a powerful artistic connection within the student-centered life of our school and the culturally and artistically rich life of our community. Our vision is realized by exposing, challenging, teaching and engaging both students and the community in workshops and residencies, performance and exhibitions. We utilize the strong collaborations between our school and our surrounding community, professional artists and local arts organizations. In the past, we have partnered with the Pittsburgh Glass Center, the Dance Alloy, Kuntu Theatre, Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, Umoja African Arts Company, Pittsburgh Opera, Penn Avenue Arts Initiative and many individual area artists.
