Arts Connection students have been practicing for the upcoming performance on February 20th, 2011 at 7pm at the Pentecostal Temple Church of Christ.
This program is a celebration of Black History Month.
The TNA Student West African Drum and Song Ensemble has worked very hard and will thrill you with their powerful performance of healing rhythms and heart-felt songs from the West African country of Guinea taught by master dancer, Mama Kadiatou Conte

West African Dance and Drumming has been an ongoing Arts Connection workshop for 7 years!
Our Students are taught by the Master Artist Kadiatou Conta. Originally from the Republic of Guinea, she has been dancing from childhood. She become a member of National Ballet of Guinea at age 16 and toured internationally for 7 years. Kadiatou moved to Washington DC in 1990 and established her own Balafon West African Dance Ensemble. She has taught at Howard University and producing extensive workshops and performances at Kennedy Center, United Nations, August Wilson Center. Her marvelous work with The Neighborhood Academy has enriched the lives and hearts of all of us. The Neighborhood Academy Drum Ensemble performs at special events throughout the city.
