2010 Faces of the Future Gala: the Backstory

Students Experiment with Concepts of Space and Perspective at the Carnegie Museum of Art

Before there was a 2010 Faces of the Future Gala, TNA Arts Connection students were counting and creasing and taping newspaper bricks.  But even before the inception of the installation, students played with concepts of space and perceptive.

Then students spent some time constructing sculpture out of blocks.  This building project yielded the inspiration for the final newspaper installation!

Several of our creative juniors came up with the final installation idea shown here.

And voila!

TNA Runway Debut

Art Connection’s recycled fashion designers and models had their runway debut as part of the Geek Arts/Green Innovators Festival at the Pittsburgh Glass Center on April 2nd.  Students enjoyed getting their hair and make-up professionally done.  Their innovative designs were met with excitement and applause.

Their outfits will be on display as part of The Neighborhood Academy’s Gala fundraiser on May 21st.

Black and White and Read All Over

In anticipation of The Neighborhood Academy’s annual Gala, Arts Connection students have been piling the newsprint high!

The stacks and stacks of up-cycled newspaper are part of a carefully planned installation for this year’s gala and fundraising event.  This site-specific installation will be on prominent display along with student-recycled design and audio from spoken word student poets.
